In an attempt to catch up to the present I'm going to do a quick overview of the last two weeks of...
Our Year in London!
After planning for three years, it feels surreal that we're actually living in London!
The last few months in Toronto were so busy- getting our house ready for our tenant (which included building a bathroom in the basement and have the basement wall parged), deciding what to bring to London and of course, our regular jobs plus Rob was working in Vancouver for most of August!
It felt nothing short of miraculous that we loaded ourselves, 4 large suitcases and 2 saxophones into our friend Amina's minivan and headed to the airport! After having experienced many travel "snafoos" due to airline problems in the very recent past, we were pleasantly surprised to find ourselves arriving in London on schedule and with all our luggage in tact.
Our first week in London was fairly quiet, mostly getting ourselves set up to live and work here. We found a second hand keyboard for Rob and got my recording booth set up and ready to go. We did manage to make it into central London to walk down Brick Lane and enjoy delicious bagels with cream cheese and lox, and then made our way all the way down to the Tate modern.
We decided to become members of the Tate for the year so we can enjoy all the exhibits while we're here. On that day we really enjoyed the "Solid Light" exhibition by Anthony McCall and the "Expressionists: Kandinsky, Münter and the Blue Rider". Both we were really well done and very enjoyable.
The house I'm standing in front of is our home in Leytonstone. Leytonstone is in East London, the tube stop is on the central line- super convenient for getting into central London. We're close to shops, restaurants and of course lots of pubs!
We're also close to Epping Forest- which you'll see a lot of if you keep reading my blog. Epping is massive with many different trails to walk and a handy dandy app to guide us through. Nearest to us is Hollow pond where you can rent boats (not sure what they're called, but basically flat bottom canoes... anyone?).
I hope you enjoy the pictures I've posted. Next weeks' post will include our amazing trip to Barcelona!
